I wanted to start this small pop up because I believe in safe spaces, and how they can help people thrive. How their existence can be nurturing for those of us who wish to heal, and to feel accepted. I’ve deeply craved that in the Muslim community, and found it to be challenging at times.

This, the creation of a safe space, is the design of this pop up—but we can’t do it without you! If you’re enjoying this series on Medium so far, please share it with friends, and family, and encourage people to participate. It truly is a community effort!

Also, please make sure to read the pieces that were published this week:

Lamya H on Queer, Brown, Muslim — And Constantly Under Attack

Izzy KB on Queer, Trans — And In Love With Islam

Islam, Muslims, are deeply diverse and multifaceted, and I’m excited to explore the dimensions of the Muslim identity on Muslim Women Speak, so please continue to join me.

Have a great weekend!

Salaam,

Fariha
