“Everyone has natural affinities; some people we like and others we do not like. We must never let those likes and dislikes rule in our Christian life. ‘If we walk in the light as God is in the light,’ God will give us communion with people for whom we have no natural affinity.” — Oswald Chambers

That’s a powerful quote from Oswald Chambers. There are people I connect with and enjoy spending time with them. As with all people, there are some individuals that clash with others just because they don’t have that natural affinity toward each other.

Yet, God has called Christians to love everyone even — and especially — your enemies. Take a look at this passage from Matthew 5:43–48. It’s a well-known Scripture where Jesus shared that believers should love their enemies.

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 [a]But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax…
