Everyday Matters
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
- Exodus 20:8

There is an ongoing division among believers as to which day is the true sabbath Saturday or Sunday? What if I propose it does not matter?

Exodus 20:8 is known as the fourth of the Ten Commandments. The key here is it's part of the Old Testament law and it still has its place and meaning but has been upgraded by grace through faith.

‭Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor - ‭Galatians 3:24-25

Jesus was born Jewish, raised, and taught the law according to its specific practices. But everything changed once he was baptized and commissioned by God to bring forth the gospel of grace to the chosen children of Israel.

That the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit - Romans 8:4

Jesus was hated and ridiculed by his community because he began teaching that the law could not save them from the curse of sin and death. Their only hope was grace through faith in himself as the long-awaited Messiah.

They were resistant to this new teaching and considered it heretical because they could not look beyond the letter of the law to see the need for grace.

Worshiping on Saturday or Sunday does not matter to God during our current dispensation of grace. Jesus gave us the example by his life and ministry that every day should be treated equally in reverence and Thanksgiving.

Holiness is not just a once-a-week experience but a 24/7 365 way of living. It's more important to involve God in our daily affairs and to set time aside whenever we can to praise, thank, and seek his direction through his living word for his glory and honor!

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service - Romans 12:1
