(John 19:29,30) So they soaked a sponge in the wine, put it on a stalk of hyssop, and lifted it to His mouth. When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished.” And bowing His head, He yielded up His spirit.

A guest lecturer while I was in Bible College, delivered only two lectures. We discovered later the College President had asked him to demonstrate extreme examples of good homiletics. Seated Priest Finished Work was the title of the first lecture. He must have repeated the phrase twenty times. His text was (Hebrews 10:11,12). Day after day every priest stands to minister and to offer again and again the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But when this Priest ( Hebrews 3: Jesus is called the High Priest of our profession)had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, He sat down at the right hand of God.…

The Old Testament Priests could not sit during their continuous daily tasks. And after all that activity, their ministrations were never enough to deal with sin permanently. They are a type of human attempt to accomplish what only God could do. Jesus on the other hand was able to sit down after His Priestly work. Why? Because this Priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins.
