The God-shaped Hole

What can fill such great a chasm?

Purpose is not without a creator.

Can one claim to have a purpose without first acknowledging you have a creator?

“What was I made for?” Presupposes the intent of a creator.

Many like to place themselves in God’s divine position. They place their stamp of approval on their own self-made and self-righteous purposes. As if to say they made themselves -Ambitious, aren’t they?

So complacent when even their parents, who biologically formed them, would not dare to say they possess the right to give them a purpose.

Many have followed the path of self-made purposes. The so-called “successful”. They lavishly adorn tombs and present them as places where the living reside.

The short-sighted onlookers fall for their deceitful ploys, until old age, natural disasters, human depravity, and all other storms of life wash open their eyes, and then they lament.

Lament no more, for although much time has indeed been wasted, God would not relent that we should eternally be wasted with it.

So what were we made for?

Ecclesiastes 3:11 NIV
11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet[a] no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

God has placed the eternal in the hearts, the souls, of every human. In other words, we can only be truly satisfied or fulfilled when our pursuits are a product of God’s eternal plan and purpose.

I once had a conversation with someone about purpose, and one thing I remember him saying was, “I believe the purpose of people is to serve other people.” I was amazed that an atheist spoke such words.

He explained how jobs were how we serve each other: One was born to be a doctor, engineer, lawyer, and so on. That’s when I saw the difference.

I asked him one question, “All those jobs you mentioned, who created them? God or Men?”.

Yes, we are supposed to serve men, but by who’s definition?

Obviously, by the designer’s, God’s, definition.

Jesus clearly demonstrated how this service was meant to be a service of Love, God’s Love.

And how do we define this Divine Love?

By His Word.

Matthew 4:3–4 NKJV
3 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” 4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”

The purpose of man is to be in God’s Image and Likeness. What reflects the face of God, His Image, apart from His Word?

That same Image was made flesh, to be judged for our sin, and we beheld His Glory. We saw God’s Life lived to its fullest, fulfilled. A life that does not end at the grave. An Eternal Life.

So, in our daily pursuits, let us always be mindful of what comes first.

Matthew 6:25 NKJV
25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

Yes, money is good. Clothes are good. Delicacies are good, and there are many good things, but let us not make them our purpose.

Hope this blessed you.

And Please NOTE: This is not an excuse to be Lazy. We do everything as unto the Lord and for His Glory, which includes serving men without talents and skills.

You can share this with someone who needs it.

This will help explain some things:
