One was young with a small child.
She had married the love of her life.
She hadn’t been married long.
Her husband died unexpectedly.

Flowers, hugs, words of condolence, cards…
A funeral was held to honor him.
As she tried to move on
In grief and sadness
Yet moving ahead, she must.

The second woman was older,
Married many years to the love of her life.
Her husband left…walked out the door.
There were no flowers, no cards, no delightful stories…
No funeral was held to mark the end.
She was left alone, devastated.

For one we mourn for the other we scorn.

We want to cast blame on the wife who was left
We don’t want to get involved, we say.
We wonder what she had done to cause her husband to leave.

We don’t realize that sometimes she has done all she could do,
Given all the love she had to give,
As she walked in patience, in perseverance and in endurance.

He had done nothing…but pack his bags and leave.

Shouldn’t we be compassionate to each woman?
They are each walking alone.

Yet God’s promises stand, especially to them.

I will never (under no circumstances) desert you (nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless), nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you (assuredly not). Hebrews 13:5. AMP
