Victor Or Victim: A Fine Line In Christian Living
In Christian living, a very fine line exists between living as a victim and living as a victor. I think it is easier to succumb to being a victim. It’s natural, automatic. It’s the original choice I am talking about. Choosing to be a victim is hard in the long run, but the first decision is easy. Our humanity takes victimization on board with very little effort. Personality makes a difference of course, but our humanity is preloaded for embracing victim thinking. The New Testament calls it the mind of the flesh.
Victor or victim? It is Christian living I am focusing on with this topic. Victim thinking is the opposite of faith thinking. A lot is riding on a Christian’s decision to embrace either faith, or a victim attitude. In his books Norvel Hayes mentions more than once that many Christians have left this life early because they embraced victim thinking. Sometimes, the victor/victim decision can be a life or death decision.
The victor is always conscious that God's word tells us Jesus has passed to us the ability to be victors in all circumstances. The New Testament says; But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Those words describe a done deal.
