Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong - 1 Corinthians 16:13

Obtaining salvation by faith is a one-time event on our part that can not be taken away or lost.

In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory - Ephesians 1:13-14

But walking it out daily is a constant battle where everything in this world is seeking to undermine or destroy its foundational principles, credibility, and trustworthiness.

‭Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure - ‭Philippians 2:12-13

In the wild, squirrels are very gifted in adapting and surviving in just about any environment as they are actively watching and surveying their situations before taking any actions. Their keen eyesight is like visual radar that sees nearly everything combined with quick reflexes that can assist them in avoiding and escaping any perceived or sudden dangers that arise without warning.

We are called to be on guard and active participants who see things more clearly through the lens of spiritual eyes so we can be effective at carrying out the mission of the gospel of Jesus Christ to others for salvation.

‭To open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me -‭Acts 26:18

And yet studies have proven that if squirrels are exposed too long and closely to humans their senses are dulled they become more trusting and their protective instincts disapear making them more vulnerable to attack and harm. Sounds like us when we allow our sin to cloud our spiritual eyes and influence our judgment which leads to harm.

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.
- Romans 6:1

We see from this verse that we have been given the choice to humbly and faithfully serve Christ rather than seeking to fulfill the lusts of our flesh which causes us harm.

We must be faithfully vigilant, strong, on guard watching we don't lose sight of our calling and purpose to be examples of faith to those who are without it and are in desperate need of obtaining it for themselves.
