Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation - Habakkuk 3:18
REJOICE, v.i. rejois'.
To experience joy and gladness in a high degree; to be exhilarated with lively and pleasurable sensations; to exult.
It's been said that when things are going well it's easy to rejoice and celebrate the goodness of God. But what about when everything around you is falling apart and hope is the only thing remaining you can lean on? Will you still choose to rejoice?
When Habakkuk penned chapter 3 his world was in overwhelming chaos and the midst of war. The one certainty he still possessed was his hope in God for salvation.
God never promised us a lifetime of service to him would be one that's without trials and tribulations. On the contrary, he made it known through his son Jesus we would be hated for aligning ourselves with him and his mission.
And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved - Matthew 10:22
So where can we obtain such a hope to overcome any circumstances that come our way?
The word of God!
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
- 2 Timothy 3:16-17
The scriptures contain instructions and promises that we can deposit within our hearts and minds to draw from in times of difficulty keeping our foundation of hope secure and granting us the ability to rejoice.
In this, you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ - 1 Peter 1:6-7
Will you by grace through faith in Christ rejoice regardless of the circumstances?
