Asteroid approaching Earth this weekend! What is it and how to see it?

An Apollo asteroid is approaching earth at full speed! It may be hoarded with penguins.

2023 DZ2 is an asteroid from the Apollo family of asteroids. Its emergence to our planet was not anticipated by any NEO (Near Earth Object) detection systems. Roque de los Muchachos observatory in Australia confirmed its emergence on Feb 18th, although it was not expected to come this close to earth and possibly hit us. As of today, 94 people have publicly observed this amazing piece of rock. First it was expected to hit us on 25th March (this weekend!), but now the data has been updated — hence we may see its closest encounter with us on 4th April. It is actually sweeping across the interspace between earth and our moon.

Now to the most amazing part. Let’s locate it! It is a wonderful opportunity for us to witness this rare event, since 2023 DZ2 approaches this close to earth only once in ten years! If you see it, you will recognize it like a bright but slowly moving star!
