Yes, to read the review you need to watch it first! This movie is found with all types of mixed reviews over the internet. But ultimately I reach the conclusion that it remains underrated. Directed by Alan Parker and the role of David Gale acted by Kevin Spacey makes it an option to watch. It is the story of David Gale, a professor of philosophy at the University of Texas against capital punishment who is accused of murdering a fellow activist and is sent to death row. It is a stunning thriller which stands for its message in the most fantastic way possible. It bangs out its message powerfully and leaves you thinking and debating for weeks. Unfortunately, it is not very praised by the critics but I love talking about this movie and everyone has enjoyed the movie to whomsoever I have recommended it.

The movie successfully projects the flaws in the system of law and crime. How effortlessly death penalty penetrates our society and can be given to innocents is depicted in the movie. David Gale was an activist against capital punishment and he creates the most captivating story of the murder of his own fellow activist, Constance. She commits suicide and portrays it as a murder very well planned with David and he is convicted of the murder due to some “obvious” reasons which were not obvious enough to give him the death penalty. The role of Kate Winslet as a journalist was super awesome and all she was left with in the end was the feelings of guilt and respect for David and Constance.

The movie repeats its message with the initial story of David Gale having sex with a student and how she charges him of rape which he had not committed and was later asked for forgiveness and relieved of the criminal offense. The movie immensely portrays the looseness of the system in such kind of serious issues as the capital punishment which have no impact on change anyway. Capital punishment tries to threaten the criminals through the penalty of death which does not provide a long-term solution against criminals. Change has to be made from the inside, where we realize that criminals are also humans and have to be treated with love if any change has to be expected. Change can be made either by fear or by love. We now know how much fear has contributed to change. It’s time that we shift to love and expect a change. This is what I believe at least. Let me know your review for the movie!
