Goodbye
Escapril Day Twenty Nine
We wait for the last words to rain
from the clouds of stolen memories
while the wicked wick of time burns
and candle skies melt in our palms
We stand on the ground of patience
to exchange the precious moments
that we sowed together with labor
that we reaped to savor at leisure
We turn our appalling faces, to hide
fossils of pain falling from our eyes
how can we accept goodbyes, when
we know they are an unwanted lie
I wish we can have a last secret moment
in which i can embrace your wholeness
and say: may this goodbye be the start
may this goodbye strengthen our hearts
Escapril is a poetry challenge where participants attempt to write a poem every day for the month of April (National Poetry Month).
