MetaMask Introduction

MetaMask is a cryptocurrency wallet that you can use to interact with Ethereum Blockchain. It provides a user-friendly bridge between your web browser and the Ethereum blockchain, which is the host network for many dApps. Users can store Ether or any other ERC-20 token that was built using the Ethereum network and then use that cryptocurrency with the dApp of their choice.

MetaMask is available as a browser extension and as a mobile app, that equips you with a key vault, secure login, token wallet, and token exchange — everything you need to manage your digital assets. Although it’s mainly used to interact with the Ethereum blockchain, you can connect it to the other blockchains as well.

Install MetaMask

Go to the download page and install MetaMask (either browser extension or mobile app). Supported browsers are Firefox, Chrome, Brave, and Edge.

After you have installed the app or browser plugin you can either Import wallet or Create a Wallet. If you are using MetaMask for the first time, create a new wallet. Make sure to copy and save the recovery phrase somewhere safe and do not share it. You will need the recovery phrase to access the wallet.

A malicious network provider can lie about the state of the blockchain, withhold transactions, and record your network activity and IP address.
