Free

Free is the key to get paid. But there is never a guarantee.

If you’re in this world of writing, of wanting to be a writer, you do it for free for the majority of your life. That’s a prerequisite.

Free is where you cut through the bullshit. If you want to write, you write. Maybe you don’t do it enough. Maybe you do it too much. But either way if you were real about this, you accept that most of it will be for free. That is, except for the love. Don’t think there’s not an upside.

Do you love the grind? Do you love the not knowing? How does it make you feel to know that you are grasping at straws throughout the entire writing process? Imagine getting to the end and feeling confident only to find out that the work isn’t “up to snuff.”

What then?

If you’re being real about this life, then there is only one answer: write.
