Hard Choices

It is said that you must sacrifice for your art. That is easier said than done.

There are considerations, mostly to do with time. When we are in our 20s, we are unencumbered by the adult responsibilities of children and career. We are just starting. We have the time.

And yet, that is the time we are at our most immature. We do not have experience nor the ability to write the way that we would like to.

Are you willing to sacrifice everything to be a writer? Are you willing to sacrifice your career? Security? Your family?

To think that we need to seems a bit drastic.

Here’s to hoping that there’s a middle ground.
