Shawn Coyne defines Catharsis as:

[A]n overwhelming emotional reaction from the audience…tears, indescribable joy…the kind of experience that keeps us coming back to the movies, to books, to plays. If you’re a writer and you tell me you have no interest in bringing the audience to catharsis, you’re lying.

We were all part of an audience first.

Before we ever embarked on the writer’s journey we were children carried away by stories, loving every minute of it.

Writing our own stories allows us to create those emotions for ourselves and others.

We are still part of the audience. But now we know both sides.
