The Humbling

We all know the feeling. We all get too comfortable sometimes.

We get confident, thinking that we finally got it.

We never get it.

That’s the point of the path. There is only the journey. Development never ends.

Masters of any discipline will say that only once they achieve mastery do they really begin on the path of learning.

Such is the life that we lead.

It will never be a life of comfort. Art demands struggle. The struggle is not necessarily financial or physical. The struggle of art is with the art.

We are all fighting against the tide. Slowly, we get stronger. Slowly, we learn more.

After a time, we can look back and marvel at what we achieved.

But it will never feel good getting there.
