Trapped in the Mind
Writing is a solitary activity. As it comes from the mind, the writer benefits from solitude. Many do choose to write in the company of strangers in a café or library; the background noise can be helpful.
But it is imperative for the writer not to neglect the physical. Exercise or some community sport can do a world of good when it comes to creativity. Discipline translates, and the more skills developed in one area the more patience will be granted in another.
Martial arts are especially useful as an activity. The dynamic of having an opponent has a way, literally, of punching you in the face.
There is only one interpretation of how that feels.
