To further confuse (but ultimately clarify) the debate of whether House is a scientist or a doctor, one could argue that he is a detective. In fact, House is based on Sherlock Holmes (Holmes-Home-House).

But, Sherlock Holmes was inspired by a real doctor that Sir Conan Doyle knew as a student. In a way, House brings the Sherlock Holmes character full circle, back to the original inspiration. This would support the argument for House being a doctor.

However, Sherlock Holmes regularly talked about the “science of deduction,” and scientific research was one of Sherlock’s most common past times. This, along with the arguments you’ve already made, ultimately supports the argument that Sherlock Holmes, and therefore House, was indeed a scientist.
