1st Piece — Utensil Of Everyday Use To Operate As Humans; Created By: Himanish Goel

Hello everybody,

My last few weeks have been incredible milestones that I’ve achieved; that are one step closer to where I’m looking to pivot. By mentioning some of the learning points that I took away from coming back to my long-desired dream of getting the artistic process started somehow or the other for creating my portfolio on the side.

From learning about, bending the waves of light and how moving one object from point A to B, C, D, and many more can change the way an audience interprets its visually compelling message!

It clicked to me why the user interface always starts from the left of its screen and works its way down to the bottom because that’s the normal way of how humans interact with technological devices. That same way is how we started our first canvas for drawing out those objects in shades of black and white by adding the areas of light that were covering them.

If you have an idea, never go to any meeting without coming prepared with creating or designing some sort of prototype with a basic feel of the template version would look; in your hands. Because it shows the visual perspective of what your trying to convey or show at most, as the words in a meeting can only go so far or even do so much of getting the process initialized to start running its gears properly in that moment of time!

A well-edited draft will save you time to allow for covering all the remaining pieces of your story elements. Voiceovers are the shortcut for which a fast-paced video can make it more efficient in the most helpful of ways for creating that backstory in your mind. Because it’s easier to add video footage to spoken audio than the situation being vice-versa, you might be thinking what does have to do with finding your artistic vision by slowly knitting the portfolio with years of experience or building your own at hand; it comes back to stories of design can be conveyed through any medium whether that be a newsletter like this, video for expressing a taste of moving images on screen, or even helping users easily navigate the screens of a mobile application from a design interface that allows you to get from the starting to ending screen in swift motion without any hiccups being presented at that moment of time. This is what makes design so magical or special, you could say because it helps bind the pages of a book with color being on the front end side (the cover which gets an individuals eye attracted to), business creating the middle man to make value out of it through financial streams of providing help with that product or service being sold worldwide (the popularity, fame, and recognition it receives from how well the local or global audience can relate to that story in particular), and tech being the back-end to what make a basic template for having access to features like server capacity from the cloud or not having any sort of bugs be present at the user’s screen through development (the supplies to what allows for the book to be made as a physical or digital copy to be sold at both in-person and online stores around the world).

So let’s start the story of how my first official piece of art came to life as the utensils of everyday use to operate as humans, shall we…………………………………………………….

The theme of this canvas eventually started to form in my head after several peaceful nights helping me to assemble its pieces of the puzzle.

Which eventually started out as pots and pan objects and then slowly transformed into everyday dishware objects in motion, starting with the help of a table cloth.

As we started to add the details around it, our main objective that we were looking to accomplish for this artwork was to show the difference between where light and darkness would appear as shadows for each of the objects from a kettle that we use for making tea to a bowl, and finally, it’s a vase.

While you are at it, try to build your own world at the most. Each drawing feels like it’s a brand-new draft sketch leading to a larger-than-life image that’s stunning to the point in which it looks as if a photographer filled its photographs with color being paintbrushed in each one of them! As if it were still photography, but instead that they were all taken at the same moment of time, creating a static image of freeze frames per second!

After continuous brainstorming of how I was going to present my artistic work, from debating between purchasing a website builder (such as Wix) to hand drawing the website by hand for showing the vision towards what my portfolio expresses about our creative mindset. It finally ringed when jotting down my experience towards creating this magnificent piece of art in progress, after three and a half years, to just create a newsletter with my pieces of art and design composing into the final product of a portfolio. Because what I have tend to notice is that if you think really hard about where to showcase your work, it doesn’t even help in starting to create the main content that you were going to use for showing on the platform that best suits you. When it comes to getting feedback or viewer to see your work, keeping it simple helps in the long term as it does not end up having you create an entire process for yourself which makes a 5 to 10-minute work of publishing 30 to 40 minutes instead. Here is a good idea to what I mean when you include the time for creating, editing, making those final corrections, and showcasing your work of art & design:

  1. First you have to find an idea to put on the piece of paper (which could take an hour, a day, a week, a month, and hopefully if not a year at sometimes even)
  2. Second, sketching it out through as many drafts it will take until you don’t feel you have a good sense of how the final vision of this will look like in the end (the collection of drafts could be completed in a week or two and maybe even three; it can also take as long as a month or also a year until you have good sense of its viewpoint)
  3. Third, drawing it out on the final piece of paper for showcasing the entire vision and doing your best work; because this is what will be shown to others for getting feedback on areas of improvement in the piece of art (this could take at minimum a month or even six months and at max a year or two possibly)
  4. Fourth, making any final corrections such as erasing smudges across the paper, extra lines, taking out the extra black-led marking that were added as support lines or made by accident, and taking out anything that doesn’t have to do with the vision you had in mind for the final composition (which mostly takes at minimum an hour or two and at max a day or two for completing your piece of artwork)
  5. Fifth and finally, the time for showcasing just the visual or adding some words alongside it to describe what was going on in your mind when creating this canvas. Then for setting everything up in terms of having a picture of the drawing, additional features that you made for expanding its vision, any drafts that you would like to include, and also any written paragraphs for explaining the what & why towards creating this portrait in one document so you can easily paste it into the application without putting a toll on yourself (which should only 5 minutes at max for publishing the content and 15 minutes for adding it into the required components of the platform; so it can be a part of its collection)

You want to make sure for keeping everything in your life as agile as possible because it tends to make something which is a passion a task instead; don’t kill the creativity just from a process that you think other artists might be using. Do what works for you, and let the rest come with time itself.

Paying attention to lighting and sound, no matter what the budget is these two components are essential for getting right in whatever type of fine art or design elements your trying to create because a decent camera for being able to convey that vision and sound to hear the crisp voice of each sentence clearly are worthwhile of a long-term investment to show the cut of a grander than life world from the average homemade videos.

Mindful of visual rhythm goes a long way in indicating the different set of styles to keep the scene moving because being in one area for too long can end up becoming stale for those few minutes at hand.

Stop planning and more doing towards the action of creating any piece of painting, drawing, sculpture, deck of UI wireframes, photography, digital media, video with an impactful message, three-dimension (3D) examples, animation, or any type of artistic viewpoint that can capture the eye’s of your audience, so they know what you are trying to say from those riveting visuals.

Anyone and everyone have the potential to express their creativity in an artistic format because each individual is always bringing a different perspective to the table of ideas!

Even though I was bummed out about my first article based around the differences between fine art and design terminology, which was supposed to be the first part for the parallel understanding of fine art versus design series that was launched through this Newsletter specifically! But at least I was able to make an impact towards my current run or walk = go Newsletter, and start this one with my first comeback portrait going through an emotional rollercoaster ride, ever since I picked up the art utensils during my high school years.

Why the reason to getting early feedback can come out to be beneficial from the perspective of a long-term view is because showing rough edits of that content allows you to see what did and didn’t stand out in front of them to see if your message is really getting across the way you had expected or envisioned it to; from receiving summary’s of what to improve on can definitely help towards figuring out what areas need to have more emphasis on when approaching the drawing board once again. Because as everyone says, short is better when summed up the right way versus longer is lengthier, coming out with a fluff of information that needs to get cleared out from the air.

So it goes to say that nothing is impossible if you believe that your purpose was to fill the color behind a blank canvas of expressing what’s important, meaningful, or has had some sort of impact throughout your journey of existence as a human being; centered towards design itself!
