#6 Life is about the people you meet!

Singularity University

Week 7 is already over. Can’t believe. Only 3 weeks left. This 7th week was long and full of great moments. We kept working on our project. Things are much more clear now and next week, part of the group will be in Mexico testing the product/idea. We have BIG plans ;)

I always loved the quote “Life is about the people you meet and the things you create with them” from the Holstee team. However, I probably never understood completely what that meant until now. For the past 7 weeks I’ve been surrounded by really amazing people. From astronauts to scientists, from social entrepreneurs to computer genius. Here everyone has something to teach and we always learn a lot. Above all, we are a group of 80 participants from 35 countries with some weird interests that really like to hangout with each other and won’t forget the awesome moments we are having here. I’m proud and humble to be part of such group.

In this past week we:

- Focus a lot on applying the Lean Startup methodology to our projects. It’s great to interview potential customers and users and then discuss the results with our team. We have a team here trying to grow in vitro meat and another team trying to grow crops in space. Imagine how interesting the customer interviews are ;)

- We met a few impact investors and discuss the reasons why they want to invest in companies that are changing the world while making money. This is definitely an area that will be growing in the next few years. Still quite nascent in most countries around the world.

- On Tuesday, we had a Q&A session with Peter Diamandis, who is among other things, the founder & Chairman of Singularity University. It’s amazing to see how he thinks. He always focus on these huge goals and he’s able to keep the motivation high even when he is fighting to make them happen for 5, 10 or 15 years. Really inspiring.

- On Wednesday, we had the pleasure to meet Philip Rosedale, who founded Second Life and is now working on his new company, High Fidelity. I never saw an entrepreneur as passionated as Philip. He fell in love with virtual worlds 20 years ago and still keeps the passion alive. Curious to see what is going to happen with virtual worlds in the next years.

Finally, on Friday we had the Space Masquerade. We all dressed up space style and I had the time of my life. Best party ever.
