Dreams vs Reality: A Happier Ending
A Poem about Transforming Away and Back Again
Fantasies swirl like dervishes in purest white,
Spinning toward delirious enlightenment,
Evolving into technicolor dreamcoats of joy
Only to wake in Kansas once more —
A flat, wheated plain, stalks stiffened by doors closed to bliss, locked against glee, blocked against the transports of the heavens.
But then the sinuous tune begins once more
And the dream dervishes raise their exultant arms once more
And we whirl and twirl and swirl into bright illumination.
