It’s what we hope never to hear.

For this month’s prompt, I encourage you to explore what comes after receiving a difficult diagnosis.

Who learns the news first, if at all? What will the patient do with the time they have left? Who helps them move forward?

Poetry, fiction and personal essay are all accepted.

Include the tag ‘Prompt Response’ and the type of submission: Poetry/Fiction/Personal Essay. You could also alternatively add ‘Pier 21 Prompt Response’ as your subtitle or kicker.

Please remember to include a link to this post at the bottom of your submission so other writers can find the prompt!

Thank you to our wonderful writers who participated in the “Siren’s Song” prompt this month!
