Recently, I embarked on a 6-week personal training program at Ultimate Performance. After careful consideration, I signed up for the 18-session package, eager to optimize my fitness journey. While the overall experience had its bright spots, there were also some aspects that could be improved. Here’s a breakdown of what I learned, hoping it helps you navigate your own potential Ultimate Performance experience:

Highlights:

  • Impressive Training Format: The workout structure at Ultimate Performance was top-notch. The trainers clearly possessed a deep understanding of exercise science, crafting routines that were both challenging and effective.
  • Knowledgeable Trainers: The trainers themselves were a wealth of information, readily answering questions about form, technique, and proper exercise execution. This guidance instilled confidence and ensured I maximized my workout potential.

Areas for Improvement:

  • Matching with the Right Trainer: My experience highlights the importance of requesting a specific trainer profile. While whoever I was assigned was undoubtedly knowledgeable, it would have been beneficial to have had a say in their background and experience level beforehand.
  • Avoiding Upselling: There were instances where the focus shifted towards additional sessions or supplements, presented under the guise of maximizing results. While upselling is part of the business world, a clearer distinction between guidance and salesmanship would be appreciated.
  • Maintaining Trainer Continuity: Having the same trainer throughout the program would have been ideal. There were times when a different trainer filled in, disrupting the established routine and rapport.

The Ultimate Takeaway:

Ultimate Performance offers a solid foundation for a personalized fitness journey. However, the success of your experience might depend largely on the trainer you’re matched with. By following these recommendations, you can maximize your chances of a truly optimal program:

  • Request a Trainer Profile: Discuss your goals and inquire about potential trainers’ backgrounds and areas of expertise.
  • Focus on Training, Not Upselling: Make your priorities clear regarding additional sessions or products.
  • Prioritize Continuity: Emphasize the importance of having the same trainer throughout the program.

Remember, open communication is key. By voicing your needs and preferences, you can personalize your Ultimate Performance experience and achieve the results you’re striving for when you are spending almost £150 per hour.
