For a start, you must have thought that you already started to understand life. This is because you know what you want and what you expect from it. But you forget that even if you are 20 years old, your opinions and views will change, and this won’t happen just once. In this period you are already starting to become an adult, and this can be terrifying and kind of a scary.

At this point in your life, you may feel that events that happened. For instance 5 years ago, somehow seem like they were yesterday.

To make it easier you gotta be well-known with the truths before you turn 20:

1. Take a joke for granted, laugh on self-defeating humor and you will be moving in the right direction

It's a small but priceless victory if you can take jokes for granted. Saying something funny at your own expense might not be such a bad thing, after all.

You point out what you perceive to be faults — when using self-defeating humor in an effective way. You’re honest and humble enough to admit you’re not perfect.

2. You won’t reach out your pick at high school because that is only the beginning of your journey

One day you may be glad that you matured later. You must have thought that the person you are in high school will determine your life. But, you will have a completely new opinion about yourself. Thus, a new social network and you will see the world in a different way. Nothing is persistent, so just keep moving forward.

We all know that after high school there is another step. Then you proceed with your education at the college. After that, you may start building your career and future development. And since you are gone to college, many things might change since the period you spent in high school.

3. Responsibility is important, but not too much

Everything you react is an emotional response to your thought process. If you can remember this, then you can remember that no one can make you feel in a certain way. You challenge your feelings yourself by depending on your thoughts about the situation. Do not forget this — responsibility will lead you to a great things!

4. Do not make others too important

It is clear that in 90% of the cases, people will disappoint you. Everything is temporary — this is why you do not have to put everything in front, besides family. Invest in people, but do not trust the process.

5. Judging other people will paralyze you

Is there any need to write more about this?

6. People you consider as incredible, aren’t probably much incredible and don’t deserve your attention

Every person is different, but deep within ourselves, we are simultaneously scared of each other.

7. You are what you are until you are

It’s easy to put pressure on you to be more aware, easier to forgive, and so on. But your time will come and you need patience. You will evolve at a pace that suits you only.

8. Time is priceless

Do not give up on yourself. Have faith. Have patience.

9. Don’t lie to yourself

Ask yourself if you feel the same as 5 years ago. If the answer is no, forget about this.

10. You are more transparent than you think

You are the creator of your own destiny!

11. If you are very loud this doesn’t mean you have self-confidence and self-esteem

People think that loudness radiates with self-confidence. But when you are loud, only your effort is seen. You are occupying the same space whether you are in the center of attention or not. Self-confidence means that you can occupy that space in silence.

12. When someone gives you a compliment, be kind and at least say “thank you”

The denial of compliment may seem modest to some. But it only fills your suspicion to yourself and allows people to think bad things about you.

13. The parts of yourself that you want to hide are those who will betray you

Do not give up on something that interests you just because others do not appreciate it. What you have is a passion, and that passion will make your idea becomes a reality.

14. Make your own manifest because others won’t suit you

Gandhi’s saying “Be the change you want to see in the world” probably does not suit you. What do you need to hear? Think and write it down. And your words have power.

15. Do not surround yourself with people who are constantly tired

Tired people will spoil your mood just because you will feel like you can not do anything for them. Do not worry about helping them either. It will not work.

16. Your body is like a vehicle that you’re hiring on a temporary base

You are not your body. This is the result of the circumstances. You can control how you move it and what you will do with it, but you can not control how you see others.

17. At least think twice before doing a selfie

Probably whenever you post a photo of a photo you think it’s in vain. There is no need to look for online recognition on a daily basis. Hence, when you feel good and nice, feel free to share with the rest of the world.

18. Do not consider much on the tradition as a measure of success

Make yourself creative and take risks. You have almost 20 years and now you are more resistant than ever. Now is the time to make mistakes and learn from them.

19. By accepting other people’s opinions, you only give false preference to others

No one but you has the right to determine which parts of you need improvement.

20. It’s okay to have many expectations from friends. But if you expect too much then you might become antisocial

One thing is to expect your friends to be good and support you. But if you constantly expect friends to be funny, accessible and positive is inhuman. You have different friends for different purposes and none of them will be perfect. Accept them as you are.

ps As a great football fan, I must mention Pelé and Mbappé who are the two football stars that won World Cup even before turning 20!
