I have failed at keto. But its not the keto that failed. It was me. It was a failure of consistency.

It always is weird when I talk about my keto journey — because I am super pro keto and have several keto sucess stories. But I don’t want to position myself as an expert because clearly — still fat.

Keto works for me — if I stick with it. But it requires a slow and steady approach. Because that’s how all REAL (non -BS) things work. And its time to for me to get in the long game again.

So — what’s new?

I’m in it as a long experiment — not a fan diet other a quick fix. This thing is gonna take time and persistence.

  • Step one: calculate and set up macros*
  • Step two: pick a tracking app (mfp) and USE it. Ugh.*
  • Step four: set clear, realistic, measurable goals*
  • Step five: make a plan (food, fitness, sleep, self care)*
  • Step six: do it. Even if I fail, do it again the next day.

Current weight: 167 lbs
Current mood: determined

Why is it different this time? What FEELS different?

I’m in the public eye at work, and every time I see a new picture of me, I cringe. I can’t pretend it’s just an unflattering angle. Even my face looks too big.

I weigh 167 pounds. I am 5'4". I’m 45 years old. My weight gain started when I graduated college and got a desk job. Then I went back to grad school — more weight gain. Then I had three kids. More weight.

I have gained and lost the same 45 pounds at least five times over the years. The last time I lost weight consistently was two years ago — doing ketosis.

Why did I stop? Because I wanted bread? I felt alone? Life got busy and I stopped using my plan? So many reasons/excuses.

I’ve been “playing” with ketosis — but not committed for the past six months. I gained 10 pounds. What I learned — half-assing ketosis does not work.

Now I start over and work the plan.

Here’s what you can expect next.

  • Long term planning (365 days)
  • Tracking macros
  • Accountability (via this feed)
