Hi.

Happy New year!!!

I know it has been awhile. For many of us, life was happening to us while we were happening to life but it’s a new year and we are here and hopefully this new year brings nothing but good news and that I must say is already big enough an achievement and with that I would love to share with you my top picks that began 2022. Many of them may have begun and ended in 2021 but a few of them trickled down into 2022.

This list may lack those dramas that are currently airing (I might include them in my next list). I avoid high blood pressure in the hopes that it avoids me so I run away from the suspense of waiting another week for the next episode and peacefully wait for the drama to end.

Here are my top picks that began this year beautifully while ending last year in joy.

Hometown Cha Cha Cha

Hometown Cha Cha Cha reminds you of honey tea, sweet enough to keep sipping while not making your teeth ache. Amid all the controversy that clouded the release of its final episode, this 16-episode 2021 drama told the beautiful tale of the move of Yoon Hye-jin, a dentist, from the City and her consistent head bums with the countryside’s Jack of all trades, Chief Hong and how they help each other heal from their wounds.

Looking for a drama with the amount of thickness yet laced with softness, Hometown Cha Cha Cha is just right.

The Red sleeve

The Red sleeve is threatening to become my personal favorite saeguk.

Besides putting her life on the line time and again to protect the Crown Prince whose life and position is always being threatened, Court maid, Seong Deok-im wants nothing more than to enjoy the life, joy and freedom she currently has but that is not in line the prince’s plan.

The 17-episode 2021/22 saeguk has its dose of Politics, suspense, romance and comedy.

The King’s affection

(Courtesy: Soompi)

The King’s affection had a huge secret. The young Prince was a woman… (although I had no idea how they could confuse such a pretty lady for a man but the progression of the drama made it believable though).

The life of a young maid working in palace is totally turned around in minutes; not only is she the daughter of a King, she has to become the crown Prince. The drama takes us through the joys and sorrows of our young Prince in a thorn ridden palace. With a devoted tutor, a dedicated cousin, a guard who is ever-ready to lay down his life and a queen who only wants the best for the King, our King navigates his way through this dangerous life.

In for lots of Politics and a little dash of cute sweetness, the King’s affection is right.

Jirisan

(Courtesy: iQiyi)

When murders disguised as suicides keep happening in Mount Jiri, the Jirisan rangers spring into action to investigate using all the tools they have seen or unseen, dead or alive. No matter how dangerous, it may seem.

It stars my forever favorite, forever comedic Jun Ji Hyun and even as serious as the drama is, she still brings the giggles.

For layers and layers of suspense and action, the 16-episode 2021 Jirisan is more than right.

Happiness

(Courtesy: Mkvdrama.com)

Soon after Yoon Sae Bom and Jung Yi Hyun finally get an apartment that she has wanted since forever, the spread of a deadly virus that makes people carnivorous leads the entire apartment building getting isolated from the rest of the city.

The Duo has to protect the residents of the apartment building not only from the deadly virus but from the evil that lies within the residents themselves.

This 12-episode 2021 drama has all drama, action and suspense laced with comedy it could offer.

Now we are breaking up

(Courtesy: KDramastars1)

When fate brings Ha Young-Eun and Yoon Jae-Guk together it mixes in all the wrong ingredients and so even though they know the end of the journey they still try their best want to start anyway. The drama also features Exo’s Sehun and he couldn’t be funnier if he tried to. This 2021/22 16-episode drama brings to light the pains, struggles and joys of the fashion industry and is filled with bold and wonderful colors and its just the right place for some style-spiration.

While we are welcoming the new year, this year of the Tiger, I would love to say that we should always begin our numbering by counting ourselves first.

Whatever way you need to cope and make yourself happy this year is fine (as long as it doesn’t hurt others).

Whether it’s letting your tears carry away your problems with a heart wrenching drama or laughing them away with a romantic comedy, or forgetting your troubles by taking on someone else’s with a thriller or action drama. Whatever way is fine!

Do what makes you happy this year!

Happy new year!
