When it comes to health & fitness, especially losing weight, I bet you’ve heard every piece of advice out there.

Drink grapefruit juice to cleanse, eat egg whites to build muscle, replace your greens with kale… am I right?

Forget about the fad advice that you hear where one piece of food is going to magically change your life.

It simply isn’t true! And as convenient as it sounds, following that advice is only going to lead you down a path of disappointment.

Instead, think about what different foods can do to HELP you along your journey, and learn about the bigger picture.

The more you understand what food can do to help you, the more successful you may be.

There are certain foods that are healthier and far more nutrient dense than others, so listen up! I am about to give you a crash course on what to look out for to help you along you way.

Healthy Foods You Should Know — Part 1:

Eggs

An eggs-cellent protein choice, eggs pack a punch when it comes to nutrient density. Filled with calcium, folate and vitamins A & D, they will help strengthen your bones while keeping you full.

Mix a couple with your favourite veges of a morning, or prep a bunch of hard boiled ones for snacking on the go!

Avocados

Everyone’s favourite source of healthy fat (at least, it’s my favourite!), avocados are a great addition to your diet.

Be careful on the portion size though — the recommended average serve of avocado is only 30g, so 1/4 of an avocado… bet that isn’t the amount you were expecting!

It’s okay to eat more than that, but just be aware of how much you consume — as a fat course, avocado is very calorie dense. It is also very good for decreasing the risk of heart disease. Who wouldn’t want that!?

Salmon

In addition to being a fabulous source of protein (as is most fish), salmon is packed with healthy omega-3 fatty acids, which is something our bodies can not produce.

There are so many ways to eat it too; baked, smoked, steamed — possibilities ad flavours are endless.

My Muscle Chef has a few varieties you can add to your order today — I’d highly recommend the basil salmon with roast potatoes, man is it GOOD!

I have many more great suggestions up my sleeve — this blog series will cover a TON of options, so keep an eye out.

In the coming weeks I will be sure to help you find some key foods to keep up your sleeve for your health and fitness journey.

My Muscle Chef fuels your life with great tasting portion controlled meals, delivered to your door. Place your order today!
