Fill up your plate with fruit and veges. Eat your water!

Yes, you read right. Eat your water. Getting in the daily water consumption amount is harder than it sounds when all you do is drink it.

If you’re struggling to reach your daily water requirements, try eating more water-based foods instead.

There are loads of fruits and vegetables that contain a good amount of water, which is no less hydrating for your body if you were drinking it straight from a bottle. Now who doesn't like the sound of that?!

Iceberg lettuce

This vege ranks top in the hydrating vegetables pile, thanks to it;s 96% water content. It isn’t, however, very nutritionally dense, so don’t ONLY consume lettuce — best to add it to your salads, or on your wraps and sandwiches.

Cucumber

Like the iceberg lettuce, it is 96% water, but this green goodness is also rich in fibre and minerals. A great cool snack in the Summer months, cucumber will always quench your thirst. Add them to salads for an extra water hit.

Watermelon

At 92% water, this fruit tops the list when it comes to water content in fruits. The rest is fibre, minerals and nutrients, so you really can’t go wrong. When you’re thirsty, this fruit will also quench any sweet cravings you may have — two dilemmas solved with one fruit. Easy choice!

Oranges

Low in calories and full of nutrients, these are a great addition to any day, especially one where you’re not drinking enough water. This uplifting fruit can prevent dehydration and promote overall health with its abundance of vitamins and minerals — calcium, magnesium, vitamins A, B and C just to name a few.

Celery

Celery contains 95% water and does not have to be as boring as everyone makes it out to be. If you’re feeling thirsty and just can’t stomach more plain water, add some peanut butter to the mix and use your celery stick as a dip. You can always jazz up the water filled veges, who said you had to eat them plain?!

So if you really struggle to get your daily water intake in your system, add some of these to your day instead. They’re easy to find, and very good for you. That way, you won’t find yourself dehydrated ever again.
