Let me bust a myth for you.

For years, marketers have told you that men and women are not the same when it comes to health & fitness.

This is far from the truth. You want to lose weight and improve your health?

Try to incorporate these few things into your daily habits and you’ll be well on your way to seeing results, regardless of whether you’re a man or a woman.

Rule #1: Eat in a caloric deficit

Try your best to be eating less than you burn every day.

Over time, this simple step will help you propel towards those weight loss goals.

It sounds easy, but I know first hand that it can be the hardest step to take. You’ll feel hungry and a bit uncomfortable, but no matter whether you’re man or woman, you can get through it!

Eventually, it won’t bother you as much, especially as you start to see results.

Rule #2: Increase NEAT by walking more

What is NEAT, you say?

Non-exercise activity thermogenesis… in English?

It is simply all of the energy that you expend doing everything that isn’t sleeping, eating or exercise.

Increasing your NEAT is a simple thing to do to help you lose the extra weight. Walk further, move a little more, that’s all it takes.

Park further away, or better yet, don’t drive at all — walk if you can!

Rule #3: Eat foods from many sources

Variety is key in any change of nutrition, but it serves so many purposes you would be silly not to implement it.

More variety means you stand less chance of being bored and giving in to temptation.

By keeping things interesting, you don’t feel stagnant, or like you’re even on a “diet”.

More variety from a range of food sources means MORE nutrients.

More nutrients usually mean better energy, meaning you give more towards your day and everything it entails. That can only ever be a good thing!

Don’t buy into the hype of different things for men and women.

On a basic level, you only need to implement the above to be well on your way to achieving those goals you’ve set yourself.

It’s a great starting point no matter what your gender. It has never steered me wrong, but if you have any new ideas, be sure to share.

I have no doubt we could all benefit from your experience, so let us know in the comments!
