What to do when a snack attack hits…

You all know how much I love to snack.

I encourage you not to reach for the packet stuff, even if it is a quick and easy fix. Nothing beats a quick DIY snack from your own cupboard, trust me on that!

I understand you probably don’t have oodles of time, so how about I share a few of my quick favourites? Call me the snacking saviour, as I’m about to be your snacking knight in shining armour.

Okay, maybe I am being a bit dramatic, but I do consider myself handy with the go-to healthy snack ideas.

So get your pen and paper — take note of my top 3 quick & healthy snacks!

Peanut Butter & Apple Slices

Salty and sweet, need I say more. Nutritionally, it is full of fibre and protein, helping you stay full until your next meal.

All you need are a couple of table spoons of your favourite nut butter and an apple, sliced. Dip into your nut butter, or spread onto the slices and devour it in a few bites.

Don’t like sweet and salty? Swap apple for celery. Same health benefits, different taste!

Fancy Toast

Ezekial bread is my go to, but any fibre rich toast will do. Jazz it up with protein packed Greek yoghurt, a serve of your favourite berries and some chia seeds and you’ll not only have a fancy schmancy snack to show off, but one that will keep you full until dinner.

Bonus? Pick your berries according to your needs; raspberries have loads of fibre and blueberries are full of antioxidants — take your pick!

Tuna bites

It’s as easy as can of tuna, veggies and sauce — you don’t need many ingredients at all.

Take one snack size can of tuna and mix it with grated carrot, cucumber and a few olives. Mix through a portion of mayonnaise and Dijon mustard, and voila!

You’ve turned a boring can of tuna into a snacking masterpiece. It certainly tastes good — add biscuits for dipping if you want, just be choosy about what kind (I’d recommend anything whole-grain).

Your nutrition intake will get a boost and your waistline can shrink, all because you snacked on the healthier choices.

Snacks do not have to be from a packet to be convenient, so take note of these ideas and go wild!
