I became a Personal Trainer 5 years ago to help change people’s lives.

Resolution: Eat Healthier

I find it helps to think about WHY good nutrition is important. To me, there are three main reasons why a healthy diet matters:

  1. Food provides the necessary nutrients that your body needs to create new cells, remove toxins, and to just function every day!
  2. Eating healthy now can help prevent future diseases such as diabetes and cancer.
  3. A nutritious diet gives you more energy and helps you be more alert!!

People make up many excuses not to eat healthy, but it’s so easy to move to a healthier lifestyle.

You don’t have to give up all the foods you love.

Find a balance between treats and the good stuff, so you can eat healthy 80% of the time but you’ve got room for treats, snacks, and other things that make life fun.

Resolution: Exercise Regularly

Exercising regularly will help you control your weight, allow you to enjoy more food (within reason!), and overall make you feel like a different person.

Exercise not only enhances good moods, it increases energy levels

I recommend exercising at least 4–5 times a week. This could be getting out and walking the dog, playing a sport with friends and of course the gym.

If you can’t get motivated to train or exercise on your own, I would suggest finding a friend to train with. This way you can hold each other accountable, and will make it more fun by taking your mind off the exercise.

Resolution: Lose Weight

Losing weight can be hard, and it’s all about consistency and commitment. To be able to lose weight (and keep the weight off!) there are two main factors:

1. Exercise

2. Nutrition

By finding yourself a solid nutrition and training program your results will be far better, your overall body image will look 100x better than starving yourself, skipping meals, or doing endless cardio to burn minimal calories.

The best way to get the results you desire is to lift weights at least 3 times a week.

Your metabolism will increase, lean muscle tissue will increase while your body fat will decrease.

Don’t stress about the scales.

Your weight can fluctuate so much day to day and hormones play a huge role in the scales fluctuating, so my biggest advice to clients is to ignore the scales!!

I tell my clients to go off bi-weekly measurements and also clothing. If clothes are getting loose then you know you’re making progress!
