The way in which you see productivity starts from combining several areas of your life, but also how you manage each day.

In this article, I will show you 5 evening habits of the most successful people in the world. These habits lead to an easier transition from daily activities to sleep.

1) Evening walk

Whether you walk from the office or do a nice evening walk with your family, this could be an excellent transition to disconnect. At least this is what Joel Gascoigne, CEO of Buffer, does daily.

2) Spending time with your family

Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim Helú spends his evening with his 6 children and many nephews. This is a good opportunity to talk about how the day went and have family activities.

3) Get offline!

If during the day you are captivated by your phone’s notifications and emails, the evening is a great chance to put your phone away. At least, this is what Arianna Huffington recommends us. Dr. Charles Czeisler, professor and researcher in sleep research at Harvard University, tells us that the phone light can produce imbalances in the natural sleep cycle, because or brain thinks that it’s daytime.

4) Planning the next day

The evening can be used for planning the next day activities in order to boost your day from early in the morning. American Express’ CEO uses the evening to think of the 3 things he wish to accomplish the next day.

5) Reading

Bill Gates is recognized as a great reader, spending at least one hour each evening. Even if reading is a smooth transition to sleep, be careful on which book do you choose, as it might be too captivating. You definitely should read something not related to work.
