Wanna feel better almost instantly? Share some good news. Research has shown there are immediate benefits to sharing positive emotions with others.

It’s a time-honored connecting ritual that helps strengthen relationships, improves mood, and helps you prioritize the right kinds of values.

Get that helper's high

“My supervisor was really impressed with my report. It felt good to get that done!”

It sounds like a brag, right?

It is, but it’s a productive one. Doing something good and sharing the positivity that comes from it is a form of giving. Researchers have found that giving results in a “helper’s high” from chemicals released in the brain that reward prosocial behavior.

You’ve got lots of positive emotions associated with the accomplishment. Those emotions are contagious, and you’re doing a favor to others by sharing them.

Careful, though. Don’t go overboard and brag about every little thing. And don’t compare, risking making them feel bad for not accomplishing as much.
