8 TIPS ON HOW TO DRINK MORE WATER

The weather is warming up and we’re spending more time outside as Summer comes along. Soaking up that Vitamin D and enjoying the outdoors is great for our overall health but it could mean that we’ll get dehydrated faster. Drinking enough water seems to be a struggle for everyone. People forget, they don’t feel thirsty, or they get bored of plain water. The problem with this is that by the time you are feeling really thirsty, you are already past the point that you should be at and definitely need to drink some water.

Here’s some tips to help you consume more water throughout the day:

  1. Build up your water drinking slowly

You should be drinking half your body weigh in ounces but if you hardly drink water as it is, then slowly build up to that. Add an extra 8 ounces every few days until you are at your goal.

2. Drink a glass of water before each meal

Not only will this give your metabolism a little kick-start, it will help you feel fuller so you may end up eating less.

3. Get a nice water bottle

Getting a water bottle that you like will increase your chances of using it and carrying it around with you regularly.

4. Set a timer

Until you are used to drinking enough water each day then set a few timer to remind yourself to drink a glass.

5. Use an app to track your water intake

Yes, there is an app for that! It will help you track your progress throughout the day so you don’t have to remember on your own.

6. Add fruit, veggies, or herbs to your water

Are you tired and bored of plain water? Switch it up! Add some cucumber and mint, lemon slices, watermelon, strawberries, etc. to add a little flavor to your water and make you more likely to drink it.

7. Eat your water

So many fruits and vegetables are mostly water anyway! Snack on some watermelon, cucumbers, celery, or apples to get more water in your system daily.

8. Make it a game

Are you still having trouble drinking enough water? Make it a game!
