The Empire’s Missing Ingredient in “Andor”
My Rambling Review of Andor
(No spoilers of any major plot points, but some general descriptions might let you know more than you want if you’re being strict.)
Andor is a good show. Well acted, good dialog, nice effects, fresh storylines… if you were on the fence about watching more Star Wars content after the phoned in effort of Obi-Wan Kenobi, or the absolute dumpster fire that was The Book of Boba Fett, then this show might cleanse the palette.
Or if you’re just kind of burned out by the fact that capitalism and Disney are wringing as much blood as they can from the stone that is Star Wars IP, I feel you. With every new show that comes out, I find myself wondering how much Star Wars content I want in my life. Especially when the quality is so patchy. But, I’m glad I watched Andor.
So what is there to talk about when a show is just generally good? There might be details to nitpick here and there, and I’m sure other people, like the Pitch Meetings guy that I like to watch, will point out some plot holes or character deficiencies that I didn’t think about.
However, there is a more general issue that’s been bubbling under the surface in Star Wars for a long time, which, ironically, this show makes more clear because of how good it is.
