The Dark Night

Up and down you pace alone,
With your favorite song playing,
Under the light of a starry dome,
Lost in your thoughts and feeling.
Out on your own on a dark night,
In a strange land with no moon,
Of you, I didn’t want to lose sight,
So I hummed to myself a tune
And watched you like a spy,
Thinking you were prettier than the sky.
I could have just sat there by the sea,
All through the night if needed be,
Eyeing the sky, the beauty underneath,
And lost in a world seen only by me.
