If you play Conceptualizer, this isn’t for you. This is for those who don’t play this Role but work with someone who does.

How do you spot someone playing this Role?

Conceptualizers:

  • Recall information with ease.
  • Are intentional about word choice, not flippant. They think before speaking or writing.
  • Prepare thoughtfully before meetings. Asks for pre reads — and [actually] reads them.
  • Does not rush a decision.
  • Teaches and explains concepts with effectiveness.
  • Seeks, values and investigates for the truth.

Have you spotted a Conceptualizer? Here’s some tips to honor and empower them.

  1. Avoid abrupt requests. If there’s something you need, it’s best to detail your request with timelines, as much information as you have and give the Conceptualizer space. Sure, an occasional, “can we hop on a quick call,” is okay but if you are known for throwing this person off their groove, it’s no bueno.
  2. Is there something you want to learn? Ask a Conceptualizer. They are often superb at teaching something they’ve mastered. Learning is a core value so partner with the Conceptualizer when there is a skill or concept to acquire.
  3. When you ask a Conceptualizer what they know or think — you will build vast trust with them if you really engage. This Role values gathering information so if you honor the same in conversation, you’re beautifully meeting them where they’re at.

March 11th we’re hosting a special event to discuss, learn and practice amplifying the Conceptualizer Role. You can join us HERE!
