Under most American Government administrations, the US and Canada relationship has been both friendly and profitable for both countries. The two countries have the longest undefended border in the world and for the most part, it works well. As with any situation, the monitoring of the border on both sides is not without problems. However, the two countries have always worked well in partnership to mitigate border problems as they arose. This is what friends do.

Friends also respect and enjoy each others’ company.

Every winter, over one million Canadians, called snowbirds, winter in the US and contribute billions to the US economy. Last year alone, Arizona’s economy was boosted by $1.4 billion courtesy of Canadian snowbirds.

The two countries have long been friends and are joined at the hip in many areas. In sports alone, we share a mutual love for the NHL, the NBA, the MLB and MSL. We speak a similar language (North American), and have similar tastes in television and movies, foods and culture.

Sure we have disagreements — what friends don’t?
