Life For A Lie — Die For The Truth

--

My heart is crying for our world.

Glancing at the heart-shaped clock at the kitchen exit, Joy Henry furled and unfurled her brows as shock lingered. Curiosity demanded why she wasn’t up after preparing her only child’s favorite breakfast.

Then, her motherly instincts reminded her. Wiping her hands in her apron, after turning off the stove, she marched to Ominira’s room, mumbling, “I name her Ominira for a damn good reason,” her anger prevented her from knocking, and she shoved open the door. Her daughter was sitting up in bed, a forlorn look on her face. She dived under the covers, covering up her entire body as her mom entered.

Joy pulled the covers off, sat in the middle of the bed, and demanded, “You are going in today!”

“Mom,” sadness poured from her heart. “They are going to fire me anyway, so why go and embarrass myself?”

“Did I raise to allow lies to win?” Joy demanded.

Ominira stared at her mom with knotted brows and reminded her, “Look at what is happening in our world now. Lies are winning every day because most of the right people can’t remember what the truth is.”

“Let me rephrase that,” a mother’s heart said. “Did I raise you to hide from or fear the truth?”
