It‘ll keep Christians looking away from God.

The self-help industry is mostly a distraction.

In the stress and overwhelm of modern society, the allure of self-help doctrines beckons us, promising quick fixes and instant gratification.

If you are anything like me, you have spent countless hours searching for fulfillment in the shallow waters of self-help.

But, amidst the motivational mantras and personal development strategies, a profound truth remains that transcends the temporal: self-help can’t save an unbeliever’s soul or cause spiritual growth.

For many underserved Christians, the journey toward self-improvement begins with a quest for fulfillment and purpose, eagerly devouring worldly self-help bestsellers and sermons in search of guidance from God.

These teachings can yield tangible results, offering tools to navigate life’s challenges and enhance personal well-being. But peel back the layers, and you’ll discover a deeper reality that resonates with born-again Christians and seekers alike.

The paradox of self-help lies in its sufficiency in addressing earthly woes versus its inherent limitations in addressing the spiritual realm. While self-help strategies may uplift the spirit and empower the individual, they ultimately fall short of bridging the gap between humanity and the divine.

As the Corporate Church seeks relevance in an ever-changing world, the lines between the temporal and the eternal are blurring. In our pursuit of cultural significance, we must not compromise the timeless truth of the Gospel.

The church is called to be in the world but not of the world, offering a counter-cultural message of hope and redemption centered on this truth: JESUS IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE.

In the quest for fulfillment, self-help alone will always leave us longing for something more that only Jesus can provide.

In Conclusion

Recognize that self-help may serve those separated from God and confined to the physical realm. However, dear brothers or sisters, you are a new creation in Christ.

Reject the empty promises of self-reliance and turn to the boundless grace and love in Christ alone. Help those who don’t know the difference. Grow in the Grace.

Walk boldly in faith, knowing we have true freedom and everlasting joy in Him.

Your identity is rooted in Him, and you are called to live by faith in the Son of God, not by the godless self-help doctrines of the world.

Remember and believe we are anchored in the unshakable truth of God’s Word, trusting in His promises and seeking His guidance. Embrace your identity as a redeemed child of God, empowered by His Spirit, to live a life of purpose and fulfillment.

Talk to Dad about it. Ask Him to show you the truth.
