What the TikTok ban is revealing — the black-out might be a blessing in disguise
They temporarily banned TikTok? January 19, 2025, will forever go down in history with the infamous words, “Sorry, TikTok isn’t available right now.” Could these words cripple an entire community of users who depend on this app for various reasons? What will life be without TikTok if there is a permanent ban? Only time will tell.
I’m actually shocked that this happened even if it was temporary. It’s funny how our government can unite to accomplish a goal. But I am not here to discuss politics, because that alone is a nightmare of its own.
If you don’t know, there are over 150 million TikTok users in the U.S. and over 1.5 billion active users worldwide, making it one of the most popular social media platforms in the world. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately (depending on who you ask), I am not one of those users.
I didn’t get the TikTok memo, and I am always late to the party, even my Boomer mom is on the app. I find the app a distraction, and I don’t need two poisons in my life. Call me ancient, but YouTube is enough swiping and scrolling for me.
