Why Do You Write?
Each of us has our reasons for writing, but not all of us understand the value and impact of the written word.

Editing yesterday, I got frustrated by the thoughtlessness of some writers and asked this question, “If No One Reads What You Write, Are You Still A Writer?
I went further demanding, “What if no one reads your power of words or buys your book, do you consider yourself a writer?”
I am shocked that some writers say yes, if no one reads their power of words or buys their books, they still consider themselves writers. And they are right, but they are not happy writers.
They can’t have it both ways.
I asked again, “If no one buys your book and doesn’t read what you write, are you still an author?”
Some say they don’t write for validation. If no one reads your power of words, does that increase or decrease its value? Many writers on Medium complain that no one is reading their articles and they vent and explain their anger.
This is for the writers who don’t support other writers, “Are you still happy if no one reads what you write?”
The post office has its ‘dead letter office.’ Does the Library have a ‘dead book room?’
The library doesn’t. They sell them to the public.
Words are not dead, they are alive and humans have the power to keep them alive. So, if no one hears or reads them, where do they go?
I decided to ask Google what is the meaning of ‘Writer.’
1. a person who has written a particular text.
a person who writes books, stories, or articles as a job or regular occupation.
a person who writes in a specified way.
2. A writer is:
(a) a person who writes (articles, stories, books, etc.);
(b) an author: a person who writes professionally.
