Voluntary Work

Some of the things I am more passionate about

Voluntary experiences have always been part of my professional development. I consider that under the circumstances of our world, we should all engage in building solutions and use or skills for helping others. I also think there is a bad approach to voluntary work from some organizations that in order to gain money, misunderstand the real labor of the volunteer and the high impact it can have on any society. Because of this, I have always looked for opportunities where my professional background and skills can be used positively and I have been lucky enough for working with amazing groups of people who share my vision of what can be done when we commit to a cause.

UNV (UN Online Volunteers Service)

Through the online service of volunteering offered by the United Nations, I started working as a part time volunteer since 2013 with three African NGO’s which I have helped on communication issues, specially with graphic design solutions.

ViEW: Voices of Edo Women, Nigeria

Edo Women are a very important part of the Nigerian culture. This NGO looks for improving their participation on the society, rights advocacy and empowerment. I have collaborated by designing cards, posters and advertising material.

America Solidaria Colombia

America Solidaria is an NGO of international cooperation that seeks for the interchange of professional volunteers around American nations for developing projects focused on poverty and childhood wellness.

As a volunteer of América Solidaria I was in charge of the coordination of the Communication Department during a period of time in which many positive things were accomplished, not just for the Foundation in Colombia but also for the system at an International level (Chile, Haiti, Peru). Along with the Executive Direction we developed a network communications plan that was replicable and now is used for the whole system. Also I was in charge of designing all the advertising and graphic communication pieces used for the alliances department and volunteering campaign.

TECHO -Fundación Un Techo Para Mi País, Colombia

During 2010 I worked as a volunteer for this NGO that looks for giving dignity to those families living under the worst conditions by the donation of a decent housing solution on the poorest neighborhoods of America. With them I collaborated as part of the Communications Department by writing and designing part of the online magazine for the volunteers and looking for engaging others to join to work for this amazing cause.
