Associate dean
A title I never thought I would have.
I went to school to be a historian: a researcher and teacher. CNM gave me a home as part-time faculty in 2009, before I had finished my doctoral program. Over the next decade, I taught numerous classes, authored a New Mexico History digital textbook, helped create a Latin American Studies Program, and co-led study abroad in Guatemala. I served as chair between 2016 and 2022.
As I strove to be a scholar and educator, it was difficult to picture myself as a leader. I have always been willing to seize opportunities, though.
