Humanities Thinking describes the habits of mind and modes of action that we develop through a close study of fields such as History, Religion, Philosophy, and Ethnic Studies. Thinking like a humanist is vital to all members of our global society because it allows us to recognize that there are multiple perspectives on every issue, that human social relationships are complex and nuanced, and, as such, problems ranging from public policy issues to the implications of technological advances require ethical, empathetic, and humane solutions. Social justice, equity, and democracy cannot thrive without individuals, communities, and institutions versed in Humanities Thinking.
