Trip to Basel: 3 countries in 3 hours

Yes, the title is correct, I did hit 3 countries in 3 hours, and it cost me less than $10 with a special 3-zone ticket you can buy in Basel to visit across the border to Germany and France! The German city is called Weil am Rhein, and the French city is Saint Louis. Note that it’s hard to go directly from Weil am Rhein to Saint Louis, so you will have to come back to Basel.

It was a gloomy day when I visited Basel, but the city’s old colorful building compensated for it! It’s a small pretty city, and after 3 hours walking around I decided to visit Weil am Rhein. It was a Sunday, so most shops were closed. But I did get to eat a doener in Weil am Rhein — which tasted much better than any doener I ever had in Switzerland!

After around an hour in Weil am Rhein, I went back to Basel, and waited for the train to Saint Louis. On Sundays the schedules are sparse, so I had to wait an hour and a half to take the train to Saint Louis! After such a long wait I was very disappointed by it — it’s just an average small town with nothing much going on there, especially on Sundays. But well, I can claim I visited France!
