We polled Achievers about the Super Bowl. Here’s what they shared!
We know that Super Bowl is a fun time of year for great appetizers, advertisements, parties, and even some Super Bowl Sunday marathons for a few runners.
At Achievement, we’re focused on bringing you timely insights about the moments that you experience every day. We’re often crunching interesting numbers around various sporting events and seasonal moments — whether it’s heart rates during the World Series or sleep patterns during back to school.
Since Achievement has an active community of members who live all across the United States, we thought it would be interesting to partner with our in-house data science team to highlight where all the fans live across the United States of Achievement. We were also curious about which team you were rooting for and what your game day traditions were.
Here’s what we found about Achievers who took the Super Bowl survey:
What team were Achievers rooting for?
- 67% supported the Philadelphia Eagles
- 33% rooted for the New England Patriots
How did Achievers celebrate the Super Bowl?
- Nearly 28% go to a Super Bowl party
- 8% host the Super Bowl party
- 3% catch the game at a bar
- 61% watch in the comfort of their home
Do Achievers exercise on Super Bowl Sunday?
- 37% said they usually try and squeeze in a morning workout on Game Day
- 35% said they were too busy watching the game (and eating apps!)
- Nearly 25% said sometimes they will exercise on Super Bowl Sunday if they can drag themselves out
- 3% claimed they’ve done a Super Bowl Sunday marathon
Percentage of survey respondents who favor New England Patriots
The state map below shows the percentage of responses within a state who favor the New England Patriots. You can see that New England certainly favors their home team, but the rest of the US typically favored the Eagles, with Minnesota being somewhat of an outlier.
Percentage of survey respondents who said they were planning to exercise on Super Bowl Sunday
The figure below shows the percentage of Achievement survey respondents who reported that they were planning to get some exercise in on Super Bowl Sunday. You can see that most states have well over half of respondents planning to exercise before watching the big game - nice work!
Percentage of respondents who said they were planning to attend a Super Bowl party
The map below shows the percentage of survey respondents who reported that they were either planning on attending or hosting a Super Bowl party as opposed to watching from home or going to a bar or restaurant. Interestingly, it looks like Achievers in California and the intermountain region (Utah, Colorado, Idaho, etc) were more likely to attend or host a Super Bowl party than other parts of the country.
Percentage of respondents who have done marathons on Super Bowl Sunday
Hawaii for the win with 6.6% of respondents reporting that they have done marathons, while Nevada is close behind with 6.4%. Looks like warm weather in February makes running a bit more tolerable. Trailing a bit further back is Connecticut and Colorado with 4.5% and 3.8% respectively.
