Laser treatments have increasingly gained popularity over the years for a couple of good reasons. The main reason being, they help improve the appearance of your skin, by reducing wrinkles, fine lines, even out your skin tone, which ultimately makes you look more youthful and glowing. They enhance your features without being too hard on your wallet, while boosting your confidence in your appearance. In this article, we will be tackling common lasers, what they treat, and their effects on the skin. For more non-invasive beauty solutions to give you that youthful glow head on over here.

How do they work?

CO2 Lasers

CO2 lasers or Fractional CO2 lasers use high heat to treat scars, wrinkles, acne marks, and other signs of aging. They stimulate the skin cell turnover rate to exfoliate the upper layers of the skin and reveal new and brighter skin underneath. After the treatment you can expect an improvement in the appearance of scars, fine lines, and marks, due to the collagen stimulating effects of the laser. Collagen gives structure to the skin, which is why you can notice more plump and healthier looking skin after it has fully healed from the treatment.

The length of the treatment depends on the surface area that the doctor has to treat. For example, if you are dealing with deep acne scars on your cheeks it may take up to an hour to prep and administer the laser. Your doctor may recommend more than one session to completely get rid of the acne scars. Due to the high-energy light used for this therapy, some scarring may be experienced for up to a week, while the new skin underneath begins to heal. This is why sun protection of 50 SPF or above is required after treatment.

IPL Lasers

IPL stands for Intense Pulse Light. This laser treatment is less intense than CO2 lasers but still provides effects of hyperpigmentation reduction. This may be suitable for those who have dealt with acne and have dark marks once they have healed. This laser is also recommended for those with sun spots, freckles, or melasma. It may also reduce the appearance of veins and capillaries, and is mild enough for those who suffer from rosacea. IPL lasers are gentle and typically don’t cause any redness or irritation, which is why they are suitable for everyone who wants to achieve the extra glow that makes your skin look healthy and youthful.

Revlite

IPL laser is gentle on the skin, but Revlite is even more comfortable and has much less downtime than IPL. The only caveat to this is that if you are trying to get rid of wrinkles, acne scars, or dark marks, it may take more sessions to achieve your dream skin since the power of this laser is less intense compared to CO2 and IPL lasers. But don’t fret, because this laser is recommended for those who don’t have severe skin issues, but would like to brighten dull looking skin, minimize pore size, improve skin tone, and reduce fine lines. Just like most lasers, you might feel some heat and a snapping sensation during the treatment. However, it is bearable for most people, and the effects of Revlite are almost instant. Some mild redness might be observed, but it normally goes away in a few hours. Revlite stimulates collagen production, which gives you that anti-aging effect almost instantly.

Thanks to research and technology, there are lots of ways to achieve glowy, youthful looking skin. Who knew wrinkles, fine lines, acne marks, and signs of aging could be reversed by pulses of light? Well now that you have this information, the next step would be to consult a doctor to figure out which laser is the best for your personal skincare concerns.
