What exactly is Mycelium Network (MyNet)?
Mycelium Network is a developing Web3 ecosystem born of, and with a focus on, community and cooperation. Our wider goals will be complemented by providing decentralised services to socially responsible users. To us at MyNet, social responsibility is an essential matter. We appreciate that individual and collective identities and lives are connected across all representations of humanity. Regardless of nationality, culture, group or generation, there exists a reciprocal relationship between each individual and their natural and social environment. The emphasis on financial gains during the crypto bull market lead to an atmosphere within the space where this was not recognized often enough. One result of this created the wide-spread perception that blockchain-based technology’s utility is limited to cryptocurrencies. Another commonly held perspective was that it is a mere instrument for financial speculation with questionable practices underpinning the growth of this new technological sector. To us at MyNet, Web3 is much more than that.
We acknowledge that a lot must change in order to address the complex geo-political problems we face today. There needs to be an evolution in social practice and a devolution from the centralised structures of governance that are currently in power. We believe that Web 3 has the potential to enable the necessary changes needed for life to flourish once more. In search of how we can contribute to this change we are inspired by a network which supports plant and animal life including our own. A network which up-cycles materials and removes all manner of harmful waste. A network believed by some to operate at a level of complexity that exceeds the computational powers of our most advanced supercomputers.
Replicating such a network is a task so complex it is unfathomable. We have begun our contribution by bringing our beliefs and combining them with well established information technology and the ever expanding realm of decentralised finance. Our greater aim is to help create a democratic and decentralised system which is strengthened by participation from communities and individuals to achieve our collective goals.
The first steps into a socially responsible decentralised ecosystem
To realise our vision and stated goals we have started with building protocols which enhance the utility of existing developments within the Web 3 space. Our first contributions are MyChance and MyFinance. Two projects that boost the utility of established protocols in the DeFi (Decentralised Finance) space. These protocols have social responsibility in their code. Having made public the first versions of our protocols we are in the process of refining these platforms. Following this we will continue to improve upon what we have created and continue to actualise plans for adding a little bit more fun to the mix. In addition we are preparing means of inclusion for the community that helped start this progress.
As well as developing protocols we are striving to become a point of information that earns and maintains the respect of those who engage with its content. In the future we wish to implement a means of content contribution from those outside the formal structures of the project.
